Yoga FAQ

1. What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Pants with an elastic waist are recommended to allow for movement of the abdominal muscles during deep breathing exercises.

2. Do I need to be flexible to practice yoga?
No, "Yoga is not about touching your toes. It is about what you learn on the way down." - Judith Lasater

3. Should I eat before class?
Yoga is ideally practiced on an empty stomach.  A light meal is okay 2-3 hours before class. Make sure you use the restroom prior to class and empty your bladder.

4. Do I need to take off my shoes?
Students can practice barefoot or with socks on. This allows the student to feel their connection to the floor and create a keener awareness of structural alignment in poses from the feet all the way to the top of the head.

5. Do I have to get up and down off of the floor?
Chair yoga allows students to receive the same benefits of a mat yoga class without having to get on the floor. Modifications for almost every pose can be made in the chair or at the wall.

Ayurveda FAQ

1. How will Ayurveda help my condition?
By creating balance in your body and harmony in your mind, Ayurveda will help create an optimum environment for healing to take place.

2. What do these herbs do?
The herbs will help your body to be as balanced as it possibly can be from an Ayurvedic perspective. A balanced body has the best chance of healing itself. Herbs provide support to your mind to make the changes in your life that are necessary to bring about healing.

3. How long will I have to take herbs?
The herbs provide support until you make the necessary changes in your life to create harmony and health. Your will probably be taking some herbs to support your process until those changes are complete and you are well.

4. How long will it take me to get well?
Most programs last 6-12 months. This is how long it takes to successfully implement the Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations. Most people, however, begin to feel better in much shorter time, often just a couple of weeks to a month. Everyone is different and it will depend on how well you follow the recommendations.

5. Why do I need Pancha Karma Therapies?
Pancha Karma is the single most powerful tool we have in Ayurveda. This program has been designed to provide you with the best possible treatment. By receiving panchakarma (or rejuvenation therapies) you will rapidly transform the health and well-being of your body and your mind.

6. Do I have to come in every week?
My goal in working with you is to help you successfully implement Ayurveda into your life. In order to do this, we have found that regular, frequent visits are required initially. As you become successful, however, you will be abel to come less often. We will begin 1X per week for the first 6 visits and then as you progress we can go down to once every two weeks.
